Port of Saint John
Saint John, NB Canada
The Port of Saint John, situated in the southern region of the Province of New Brunswick, holds the distinction of being the largest port in Atlantic Canada in terms of volume. Its strategic location, just an hour away from the United States border, allows for quick one-day transit to significant population centers in Central Canada, the North-East, and the Mid-West United States.
A baseline test using our Larzé rapid testing system was conducted at the Rodney Terminal in the Port of Saint John, with the goal of evaluating the integrity of two sections of the Port. The primary challenge was inspecting the concealed piles beneath the deck, requiring an alternative method to destructive testing procedures for evaluation.
Comparative analysis between the two wharf sections was performed to obtain the following:
-
Comprehensive data collection and analysis processes to obtain the derivation of natural frequencies, damping ratios, and 3D mode shapes
-
Comparison with healthy baseline structures to identify potential anomalies
-
Identification of any potential damage on piers, foundation, and potential scour using a non-destructive sensing approach, by simply placing deck-level sensors on the wharf
